Schoenherr has advised the owners of ImWind on the sale of all shares in the company to Wien Energie. E+H advised Wien Energie.

ImWind is an Austrian renewable energy producer. According to Schoenherr, ImWind has been developing, building, and operating wind and photovoltaic parks in Austria, Germany, and other European jurisdictions for three decades. Through this acquisition, Wien Energie is directly adding 52 wind turbines and four large-scale photovoltaic plants to its portfolio, significantly expanding its green electricity generation base.

According to Schoenherr, for Wien Energie and the City of Vienna, the deal represents a major milestone in the city’s energy transition. The utility aims to more than double its renewable energy output to 1,800 megawatts by 2030, enough to cover the electricity needs of all households in Vienna, and to reach 2,800 megawatts by 2040, targeting the full electrification of Vienna’s transport system with climate-friendly power.

Earlier in 2025, Schoenherr advised ImWind and Bloch3 on obtaining an EIA permit (as reported by CEE Legal Matters on February 4, 2025). In 2024, Schoenherr and E+H advised on ImWind’s sale of wind and solar park portfolio to Wien Energie (as reported by CEE Legal Matters on October 25, 2024).
