Bucharest-based lawyers Claudiu Damian and Costin Teodorovici have launched Whistle Up – a platform to support organizations impacted by the whistleblowing legislation in complying with the newly applicable legal framework.

Claudiu Damian is the Managing Partner of MDS Legal, having held that position since 2018. That same year he also co-founded cSquare, an integrated web and cloud-based work management solution. Earlier, he spent over two years with Bulboaca & Asociatii and four more with Eversheds, between 2011 and 2015.

Costin Teodorovici has been working in-house since 2022 (as reported by CEE In-House Matters on August 18, 2022). Before that, he spent two years as a Partner with Ionescu Sava and almost three more with Stratulat Albulescu, between 2018 and 2020. Back in 2018 he also founded BaseTwelve, a SaaS platform for SME management. Earlier, he spent ten years with Bulboaca & Asociatii, joining as an Associate in 2008, making Senior Associate in 2009, and eventually Partner in 2012.

According to its press statement, Whistle Up is intended to help all the organizations falling under the scope of the whistleblowing legislation: all companies with over 49 employees, organizations acting in areas such as banking and finance, capital markets, civil aviation, insurance, oil & gas, audit, e-payments, maritime activities, and social entrepreneurship among others, as well as public authorities and institutions.

"The platform can support both whistleblowers in reporting irregularities in the organizations they collaborate with and also companies in analyzing and addressing the reports they receive," Damian commented. "Moreover, implementing Whistle Up is also a good opportunity for companies to familiarize themselves with ESG reporting, which will soon become an essential element of the EU business ecosystem."
