On December 3, 2025, Filip & Company announced that Banca Transilvania Group's acquisition of BRD Medio Fund (as reported by CEE Legal Matters on May 7, 2025) has now closed.
According to Filip & Company, this marks BT’s entry into “Pilon II” privately managed pension funds market.
As previously reported, Filip & Company has advised BT Pensii on its takeover of the voluntary pension fund BRD Medio. Popovici, Nitu, Stoica & Asociatii advised the Societe Generale Group.
According to Filip & Company, this transaction follows the 2024 agreement under which Banca Transilvania Financial Group and BT Investments acquired BRD Pensii, the administrator of the BRD Medio and BRD FPAP Pilon II funds, from BRD-Groupe Societe Generale and Societe Generale Assurances. With this acquisition, BT Pensii will manage two Pillar III funds, Pensia Mea and Pensia Mea Plus, servicing over 150,000 participants.
