Defense Boutique Skadi Opens in Ukraine

Damien Magrou and Oleh Kulyk have launched a new law firm in Ukraine called Skadi.

According to Magrou, Skadi is "the first law firm in Ukraine focused on the defense industry and defense technology, and the only Scandinavian-owned firm operating in the country."

Before setting up Skadi and becoming its Managing Partner, Magrou worked for Jeantet as a Managing Associate from 2025 to 2026. Earlier, he worked for Thommessen as a Senior Associate from 2023 to 2025, and for Asters as an Associate from 2020 to 2021, the Head of the Nordic Desk from 2021 to 2022, the Head of the French Desk in 2022, and a Senior Associate in 2022. Earlier still, he worked for Eversheds Sutherland as a Junior Associate from 2018 to 2020.

Before becoming a Partner at Skadi, Kulyk worked at Legentum as a Senior Partner from 2025 to 2026. Earlier, he worked as a sole practitioner in 2024. Earlier still, he worked for Ilyashev & Partners as a Lawyer from 2018 to 2024.

"European defense companies entering the market, foreign investors looking for or assessing targets in Ukraine, and Ukrainian companies seeking expansion in Europe, for all of these we will offer turnkey solutions that allow them to partner, scale, and operate in one of the most demanding environments in the world," Magrou added.
