Sorainen has advised Danish Sun Energy on the sale of a large-scale co-located solar and battery energy storage project in Latvia to Sunotec.
Danish Sun Energy is a greenfield renewable energy developer. Headquartered in Aalborg, Denmark, the company has over 1.3 gigawatts of projects developed or in progress across Denmark, Spain, and the Baltics.
Sunotec is a European renewable energy construction company.
According to Sorainen, the transaction involved the full acquisition of SIA DSE Lazas Solar, which holds development rights for a 400 megawatt-peak photovoltaic power plant and an integrated 600 megawatt-hour battery energy storage system. The project will be developed near Padure, with commissioning targeted for March 2027. The first phase of the project received ready-to-build status in June 2025, with construction of a new 330-kilovolt substation, in partnership with Latvian TSO AS Augstsprieguma Tikls, kicking off in July 2025. The project’s total investment is estimated at up to EUR 245 million.
The Sorainen team included Partner Nauris Grigals and Senior Associate Ieva Pruse.
